Dragon Ball FighterZ is free to play this weekend on Xbox One

If you’re looking for a game to burn some free time with this weekend, Bandai Namco has the perfect recommendation for you. Microsoft is teaming up with the Japanese company to offer a really excellent 2D fighter for free this weekend on the Xbox One. The Xbox Wire site announced today that the companies will be hosting a free weekend with the hit fighting game for all Xbox One and Xbox One X owners with a valid Gold account.

You can grab the game if you’re part of Xbox Live Gold, and you can play it all weekend until January 27 at 11.59pm PST.

But that’s not all either, the developers of the popular fighting title are also offering deep discounts on various versions of the game, as well as the DLC for it. The base version of the game is discounted by 60%, down to $23.99. Meanwhile, you can also get the FighterZ Edition, with eight additional fighters in the FighterZ Pass, for $47.49; and then there’s the Ultimate Edition, with the FighterZ Pass, anime music pack and commentator pack, for $54.99. That’s the equivalent of a 50% discount, so it’s good deals all around.

All in all, if you’re looking to test out the fighting genre, FighterZ is a pretty good place to start. The popular Dragon Ball game has an excellent grasp of basic fighting game mechanics and style, but mixes in tons of depth which keeps hardcore fans engaged as well. And with an active online PvP scene, there’s plenty of life left in the multiplayer aspect as well.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is also available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC if you don’t happen to own an Xbox console.
