INSOMNIA: The Ark is an atmospheric single-player/co-op RPG set in a “living” dieselpunk sandbox with real-time tactical gameplay. Here’s a quote from Anatoly Nekrasov, CEO and Lead Developer of Studio Mono:
It’s our first project, our beloved child. We’ve been developing INSOMNIA for nine years, and finally, we’re almost there! We’re delighted to present the game to our biggest fans from Kickstarter. The game has been altered several times, we’ve changed concepts, plot and mechanics, but we’ve attempted to save the unique visual style and deep dystopian atmosphere.
The game launched its successful Kickstarter in 2014, raising more than $100,000, and the team has been quietly working on INSOMNIA: The Ark since then. Today Studio Mono has released a new trailer for the game, which they describe as being a dieselpunk sandbox RPG with tactical gameplay.
The game will have a backer-only beta at some point in the future, with a more expansive and inclusive beta to follow sometime afterwards.
INSOMNIA: The Ark takes place on a space metropolis brimming with the secrets of a long-gone civilization. The world is populated by the descents of a once powerful race called Nomah. The Nomahs fled their home after a devastating war rendered their planet inhospitable. The survival of the species is at stake as a terrorist group attempts to disrupt the cycle the civilization relies on.
As the main character, you’ll have to contend with the threat of the terrorists as well as other dangers to reach your goal. You awake from a hibernation chamber and must get your bearings and fight viciously if you’re to survive.
The game has a distinctly Fallout-esque dystopian feel, with lots of interesting art direction and themes. Check out the trailer below to get a peek into the game world.
