Borderlands 3 continues to stir up both hype and controversy ahead of its upcoming release later this year. Whether it’s gamers being freaked out over the announcement of the return of their favorite franchise, or Randy Pitchford spoiling the good time by doing something really dumb, there’s a lot to say about Borderlands 3.
But this time, we’re talking about the newest developments for the hotly anticipated game coming out of E3 2019.
The newest trailer for the game is actually pretty simple. It focuses much more on the basics or gameplay than anything else. We got to see a fair bit of how the new batch of Vault Hunters work, mostly together, as this entry into the loot-shooter franchise is putting a lot more emphasis on cooperative play. And while we did see teases of new characters, like Moze the Gunner, the trailer didn’t dive too deep on any of the story or other trappings of these elements within the wider context of the game. That doesn’t mean we learned nothing about the Vault Hunters and their allies though.
For one thing, we saw some of Moze’s skills in action, as well as some new unique weapons.
Another of these new characters, FL4K the Beastmaster is being voiced by funny and talented ProZD, a YouTube personality known for his impressive vocal range and comedic wit. I for one am excited to see more of these kinds of crossovers with popular culture in the future. But aside from his unique voice actor, FL4K the Beastmaster also brings new gameplay elements to the table. FL4K allows the player to directly control their beast companions, something new to the Borderlands franchise.
The game showed off a fair bit of other details at the E3 press events aside from new characters. We also got to see the return of milestone-based Challenges system in this entry. Some of the challenges include dealing incendiary damage, soaking up shield damage, looting certain rarity weapon types. Completing these will unlock new minor boons for your character, much in the same way the system worked in Borderlands 2.
Borderlands 3 is due to release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on September 13th of this year.
