The Walking Dead: The Final Season has been pulled from digital storefronts, and it turns out that Telltale wants it that way.
The Final Season is no longer available for purchase on Steam, or GOG. The game has also been pulled from console stores such as the Microsoft and Playstation storefronts for the time being.
Ever since Telltale Games announced that the company was shedding the majority of its workforce, gamers have wondered what the future of various game franchises would be. Telltale was working on a variety of projects in addition to The Walking Dead. There was the Stranger Things game, being made in collaboration with Netflix, for which Netflix is now shopping around for a new developer. But sadly for fans of the franchise, The Walking Dead: The Final Season was left hanging.
Well, it turns out that Telltale has been working behind the scenes to find a new third-party developer to pick up the final two episodes of the game and finish the series.
The company released the following statement to explain their actions to Polygon:
Yes, we have removed season passes for The Walking Dead: The Final Season from stores for the time being. We’re currently still working to find a way to hand off production of episodes 3 and 4 so that the season can be completed. The outcome of those efforts will determine when and how The Final Season returns to stores. We hope to have a firm announcement before the end of the week. For now, we apologise for any inconvenience.
