Tales of Vesperia puts more focus on story in new trailer

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

Bandai Namco has revealed a new Japanese trailer for Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Editon which teases a bit of the story, and lets players get familiar with some of the characters.

For those that didn’t know, this isn’t just any old re-release of a game. Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition is a remaster of the 10th game in the Tales of series. With the obvious updated visuals, this version also includes all the bits that gamers in the West haven’t seen before. So we can expect things like additional music, costumes, events, and minigames to all be included in the Definitive Edition.

As far as the story, which we see a bit of in the trailer, this game follows Yuri Lowel. Young Yuri is a swordsman who falls in with the wrong crowd at one point in his life. Yuri just got out of prison after a botched heist landed him being framed with stealing a powerful artifact, now he has to rebuild his life.

Here is an overview of the game, via Bandai Namco:

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition includes up-scaled screen resolution, characters, events, and costumes that were never released outside of Japan, as well as introducing two new playable party members. Flynn Scifo, the main character’s best friend and rival, and Patty Fleur, a young pirate searching for her lost memories.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition uses a specialized iteration of the ‘TALES OF’ series’ Linear Motion Battle System for combat. Players control a single party member in real-time combat while other party members are controlled by a customized set of A.I. commands. Players can swap between any of the four characters at any time during battles and can perform physical attacks, Magic Artes or even powerful Mystic Artes.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition was announced back during Xbox’s 2018 E3 showcase. The title will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on January 11, 2019. You can check out the newest trailer for the version down below.
