Electronic Arts and LucasArts announced that the first digital expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rise of the Hutt Cartel, is now available for players worldwide. Available for £11.99, or at half price for current Subscribers (£5.99), if you’re willing to pay in.
The big element of this whole update is about building out the game with a ton of new content, as is the usual with MMO expansions. And as is par for the course with SWTOR, the new expansion will bring both new items and gear, but so much more. The 2.0 update will include a new suite of end-game content for group raiding, all wrapped in a new setting. Rise of the Hutt Cartel will raise the game’s level cap to 55 as part of this new grind as well. The new expansion is live now, check out the launch trailer down below.
There’s a bunch of new missions, a few companions, and a ton of new storylines to under take in Rise of the Hutt Cartel. Each of these will introduce, expand and ultimately wrap up the newly revealed planet, Makeb.
Jeff Hickman, Executive Producer of Star Wars: The Old Republic said:
“We’ve worked hard over the last year to ensure we were listening to player feedback and acting on it. This month, we’re not only adding hours of new story-driven content and features with Rise of the Hutt Cartel, but we are also adding depth and content to the end game with our latest Game Update 2.0: Scum and Villainy. All of this new content, combined with a much larger, more active and engaged community since the addition of the Free-to-Play option last year, makes this the best time to join or return to The Old Republic!”
In Rise of the Hutt Cartel, players will explore a new storyline on the beautiful and exciting new planet of Makeb. This beauty is achieved in part thanks to new graphical tech working in the backend, so expect higher quality environments. Here players will continue their faction storylines as they fight against a nefarious new threat, the Hutt Cartel.
There will be new factions to interact with, as the war heats up led by the Sith and the Republic. Completing the series of new quests will unlock a bunch of rewards. There are plenty of piles of loot and gear, but that’s just the beginning. The planet of Makeb is a haven for the Hutt criminal clans, offering a much more rich backstory for the game than the base game. The storyline from the main game will directly lead into this game, as the Empire and Republic forces brawl over control. And now the Hutts are getting involved. This tensions are where the players get involved.
You can see the making of this new planet in a previous trailer for the expansion down below.
