What are Evergaols in Elden Ring?

Where to Find the Meteorite Staff in Elden Ring

Throughout your adventures in Elden Ring, you’ll stumble upon many hidden items, powerful enemies, and strange objects. Uncovering the secrets of this new world will take some doing. Evergaols are a special object found in the game world, which seems to be confusing some players.  The most powerful bosses in the game have actually been imprisoned. Without giving too much away, there’s a reason why the gods have been involved in sealing them away. You can free them, but they won’t be too friendly. In fact, the Evergaols in Elden Ring are some of the strongest foes in the game. If you’re looking to try out an Evergaol for the first time or you’re in the process of gearing up your character, the chances of you dying inside will be relatively high. You need to come in with relatively strong gear to have a chance.

What are Evergaols in Elden Ring?

These special prisons contain many bosses throughout the game. Getting into fights from Evergaols in Elden Ring can be very dangerous. They often contain powerful bosses that act as optional challenge fights. For example, there’s one special variant called Cuckoo’s Evergaol. This can be found just north of the Revenger’s Shack Site of Grace. You will know you’re in the right place when you find the worm creatures surrounding the glowing prison.

Cuckoo’s Evergaol will contain the boss Bols, Carian Knight. This isn’t an easy fight, This optional boss is a way to get the Greatblade Phalanx, and uses that weapon to great effect. It swings the blade in a wide arc, and hits very hard indeed. If you want to try and take them on, you need to do it alone. Multiplayer and summons aren’t an option for these field bosses. But don’t feel too bad. When you die inside an Evergaol, you Runes will be teleported back outside. You can then journey back and grab them, trying again if you wish.

Another example is Malefactor’s Evergaol, one of the first you find in the game. It can be found inside Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace. This is a much easier boss, but still not a pushover.
