Star Citizen’s New Video Tackles Atmospheric Flight; and Squadron 42 Teaser

Amid the ongoing legal fiasco between CIG/RSI and Crytek, Cloud Imperium Games released a new video of its upcoming space simulation Star Citizen.

This Around the Verse video focuses on the short and long-term goals for atmospheric flight, the goal is to make it easy for players to distinguish between the experiences of flying in space versus within the atmosphere of a planet.

On top of that, we also get a small tease about the single-player campaign Squadron 42. An included screenshot features an Avenger spaceship bearing the “Advocacy” livery with a destroyed space station on the background. Advocacy is a militia-like police force with jurisdiction over interplanetary crimes and cases that extend into alien territory. This teaser no doubt acts as a mechanism for tying the story of Squadron 42 together, it will be interesting to see how this story progresses.

On December 20th, Cloud Imperium Games will publish a teaser featuring Mark Hamill (who plays a major role in Squadron 42), and the next video of this series will focus on the single-player campaign, hopefully providing a release date or window. Hopefully CIG gives backers a great Christmas gift this year.
