Sea of Thieves “Forsaken Shores” DLC delayed

Sea of Thieves Forsaken Shores Teaser

Sea of Thieves is sticking port for a few weeks longer. Rare has announced via a forum post that they’re delaying  the upcoming DLC expansion to Sea of Thieves.

Forsaken Shores is the third DLC for Sea of Thieves and was originally set to be released on September 19. The new release date is September 27, 2018 to all platforms. The expansion will add a new in-game region, as well as tons of new content with missions, cosmetics and other items for players to goof around with.

The big focus with this expansion is on spicing up the seven seas in-game with tons of new things to explore and explode. One of the new mission types, Cargo Runs, is sure to add a bit more variety to the mission structure as well. The new region, Devil’s Roar, brings in a new volcanic biome replete with geysers and other features that break up the monotony of the typical tropical setting found in Sea of Thieves.

Rare had the following to say on the delay:

We appreciate your understanding with this change in our release plans. I know this will be disappointing, but I resolutely believe this is the right decision. We are committed to giving everyone the best Forsaken Shores release experience, and this will enable that.

Thanks to all of our Pioneers for their support in providing valuable feedback and bug reports on Forsaken Shores so far. Alongside helping us gain confidence in the release from a stability perspective, we have been able to make significant tweaks to the gameplay experience as a result of the feedback we’ve received, and it is better for it.
