During the main keynote speech at BlizzCon 2019, fans got to see all the headline announcements right up front. And of course, why not lead with their biggest franchise and the huge money spinner that is World of Warcraft. Blizzard has just revealed the first bits of information for the new Shadowlands expansion, which will continue where the previous expansion left off.
Following the events of Battle for Azeroth, both factions remain in a state of weakness and flux. Internal strife over the tensions brewed during the years of long war is finally reaching the boiling point, and the fallout could be catastrophic. And based on what we see in the new trailer released for this content update, things are about to get even more dangerous. We see the return of Sylvanas Windrunner, who has now journeyed to the frozen environs of Icecrown, apparently seeking the ultimate power of the Lich King for her own purposes. How this will all play out is unknown, but anyone familiar with the history of the Lich King’s power will now the folly of pursuing it. But things aren’t as they initially seem, I won’t spoil what’s going on here though, watch below and see if you can guess what’s about to happen.
In other news, Blizzard also announced the equally hyped Diablo 4, a continuation of the legendary RPG franchise which will be the best Diablo yet, or so they say. The elements from all of the various games are being blended together and given a grimy new coat of paint to take the franchise is interesting new directions, and to new heights of quality.
