Evolution items are a big part of the game now, in this modern era of Pokémon. There are tons of evolution stones and other items you need to hunt for, like the Reaper Cloth. One of the items you need to find to get the 500+ Dex filled is the Protector. This evolution item is used for a specific evolution, Rhyperior. There are both stat-boosting and evolution items you might want. But for this guide, the goal is getting the Protector.
The game has a ton of stuff to learn about, both with new and old systems. You might want to learn a bit about Affection bonuses. Also, the Pokémon swarms are back as well, adding another layer to capturing rare monsters. When you want to explore the Grand Underground, you’re going to need a lot of Digger Drills.
Get the Protector in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
You can use Evolution items to get the Pokédex filled. One of the evolutions that get locked in this way is getting Rhydon into Rhyperior.
In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you can get the Protector in two ways. The first is to head to Route 228 and look for the upward slope at the beginning of the zone. Use your bike to rush up there and grab the item. You can also acquire Protector from the Battle Tower once you have beaten the Elite Four. Farm enough BP to buy this item.
Then, you just need to spend the BP on the Protector. Once you have it, it’s time to get Rhyperior. Now just have a Rhydon hold the Protector and trade it. Have the Trainer send back your Rhyperior once it’s evolved.
