Where to get the Shiny Charm in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

How to get Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Shiny Hunters are back again with the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Finding those alternate color schemes is tons of fun and players are rushing to do just that. To get the highest odds of finding a Shiny, trainers must obtain the Shiny Charm in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

The new game has a lot of new and old mechanics for the Switch remake, so it can’t hurt to learn a bit more about what’s going on. And for shiny hunters, there’s a lot to do. The old methods of using eggs and Shiny Chaining still seem to work, with a few caveats. But without these methods, there’s very little chance of finding shiny Pokémon. Just like in previous games, items can help with this.

Where to get the Shiny Charm in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Once you’ve caught all 493 Pokémon, head to the Grand Lake Hotel and speak to an NPC who will give you the Shiny Charm once you show him you’ve caught them all.

Once you have the Shiny Charm, your odds are much better. Instead of the default 4,096 to 1 with shiny spawns, the Shiny charm drops the odds to 1 out of 3,640 encounters. There are a few things to note about this version, though.

How does it work?

This version is a bit different from the Shiny Charm found in Sword and Shield. The Shiny Charm is a late-game item that players can obtain by catching all 490 non-Legendary Pokémon available in-game. This item increases shiny odds from 1/4096 to 1/1365. However, as it only affects eggs, players are hoping that this will be changed in later patches. So if you’re hoping to use all the tricks you did in Sword and Shield to do Shiny Chaining, it won’t be that simple.

You do have one other option, though. The Pokémon Radar – which was introduced in Generation 4, the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games these remakes are based on – increases shiny odds the most significantly. This item is given by Professor Rowan after getting the National Pokédex. This thing can then be used to chain spawns together. Trainers that chain together at least 40 of the same Pokémon have a 1/99 chance to encounter a shiny.

Although you will want to get your hands on Ditto, as the Masuda method should work here as well. So combine the Radar, Shiny Charm in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and the Masuda method to get the best shiny spawn rate.
