Pokémon Legends: Arceus finally has some new gameplay footage. Players and fans got a much better look at the wild encounters and battles in the Switch game today. Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ newest gameplay focuses on the open world, showing off what players can expect during exploration. Due to the ancient setting of the game, technology is very different, so battles and captures have changed.
The Switch experience is about to get a lot more complex for Trainers. With Sword and Shield the Wild Areas were a great improvement. And this new game is pushing even more focus on the overworld sections. Trainers will have to hunt across vast open landscapes to find the Pokémon they wish to capture. Also, rideable Pokémon will be a thing now.
The Hisui region is home to a new and revamped Pokédex with hundreds of entries, both new and old. The actual process of capturing and battling wild Pokémon is much closer to Pokémon Go than previous mainline games. With new lore and wild Alpha Pokemon to hunt, there are a lot of new things to figure out. The game still has a few mysteries tucked away that we will have to wait till launch to figure out.
The trailer’s description also provides a bit more context on Pokemon Legends Arceus’ story and why the player is venturing out into the wild. At this point, Pokemon Trainers and battling aren’t things that have been wildly established. You’re supposed to go out and set an example for the new Trainers out there to come behind you.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus releases to the Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022.
