PlayStation Plus announces free games for January 2019

playstation-plus-january-2019

Sony has revealed the upcoming bundle of free games for Playstation Plus subscribers for the month of January 2019. Coming in with the new year, PS Plus gamers will get a decent mix of wintry titles, as well as some more unique options. Headlining the bundle this time around is of course the PS4 with some interesting lesser-known titles.

First up is Steep, the hyper-realistic skiing and snowboarding game from Ubisoft. This particular extreme sports outing puts a lot of focus on both the physics model, offering much more weighty and engaging treks through mountainous terrain, and terrain and weather. This combination creates an incredible atmosphere surrounding multiple extreme sports in dangerous landscapes.

Portal Knights follows up and rounds out the PS4 lineup. Portal Knights is a much more cartoonish game, focusing on action RPG elements as well as sandbox elements that allow for some fair amount of player freedom. It’s much more cutesy and forgiving than Steep, that’s for sure.

And yes, January 2019 will be one of the last few months that Playstation 3 and Vita titles will be included in these bundles. Sony plans to drop these two aging platforms from the rotation in order to include more modern titles in the lineup. This change is planned to occur in March 2019.

Here’s the full rundown of games, sorted by platform:

PS4

  • Steep
  • Portal Knights

PS3

  •  Zone of the Enders HD Collection
  • Amplitude

Vita

  •  Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion
  • Super Mutant Alien Assault
