Ever wanted to feel like a god? Well, you can in video games in a variety of ways. in Minecraft, at least in the vanilla game, there’s one gods powers you can call down. If you’re a Marvel fan, you’re about to be really excited. Though you can’t weild the legendary hammer, you can call upon the power of Thor and unleash the ferocity of storms upon your foes. The Channeling Enchantment in Minecraft is a unique and powerful enchant, here’s everything you need to know about it.

What is the Channeling Enchantment in Minecraft?

It’s a very simple ranged enchant. Channeling summons a lightning bolt when a mob is hit by a thrown trident if there is currently a thunderstorm occurring. So yes, you have to have an active storm for it to work.  Mobs in minecarts and boats can be struck, but only if they are in a passive state. There are also other restrictions. For one thing, the strike won’t happen if the mob is on a certain kind of block. The blocks listed below won’t trigger a strike.

  • Water
  • Lava
  • Snow
  • Soul Sand
  • Cobwebs
  • Honey blocks

The thing to keep in mind with these restrictions is that the strike can travel to nearby blocks. If a strike is called down onto a valid adjacent block, mobs on nearby blocks can be affected. So a creeper in the water close to a channeled lightning strike can still be turned into a charged creeper. Also, any trident thrown at a lightning rod will always trigger a strike, regardless of other conditions or lack of a mob.

It’s still very useful even with these restrictions. It obviously has offensive utility, but it has other useful effects. The Channeling Enchantment in Minecraft is useful for turning Creepers into Charged Creepers. You can also transform villagers into witches, as well as pigs into zombie piglins.

How do you get the Channeling Enchantment in Minecraft?

It’s simple, you have to get lucky. Channeling is a Trident-exclusive enchantment, so you need to get one of those first. So once you have one, you have a few options to get the enchant. You can get the enchant via any of the normal means you would any other in the game.

You could use an Enchantment Table to make this work as one option. Another option is to use a fishing rod. Have Mending on it to make it last longer. Then you need to juice the drop rate. Get both the Lure and Luck of the Sea enchantments on the fishing pole to make fishing for rare drops much faster. If you’re after something like the Aqua Affinity book, or any book, this is the way to go.
