Path of Exile 3.17 will mark the end of the Prophecy League. Prophecies were introduced in 2016 and offered a way to get interesting pathways to powerful gear. The Prophecy content first introduced players to Navali, and the system of randomized missions with set rewards. it was very cool at the time, but it has been feeling pretty stale in recent years.
According to GGG, the game could use a refresh. As the announcement said ” over time it has become dated and outpaced by other newer content. In our January expansion, we’re removing Prophecy from Path of Exile.” So while the content is finally being removed, there’s a good reason for it. As Grinding Gear Games preps for the release of Path of Exile 2 there will be a lot of changes coming.
The existing prophecy system and the items surrounding it will be removed when the patch goes live. The devs will be refactoring related mechanics like Divination Cards, Fated Uniques and other items to account for the removal. It’s likely that GGG will continue this pattern post-3.17 as well.
Path of Exile 3.17 also slates the complete rework of endgame mechanics that was previously teased by Chris Wilson. We don’t have many details on this yet, but we do know that the Atlas system could definitely use the attention. It’s become a little too bloated for the liking of many players, and folks want a break. As POE 2 nears completion, we’re likely to see more of this occurring in the future.
