Creative Assembly have released another faction trailer for Total War: Saga, this time it’s the Gaelic faction led by Flann Sinna, of the Gaelic Kingdom of Mide.

Mide are one of the two Gaelic factions in Thrones of Britannia, a game which imagines the historical ambitions of the kings at the time and invites you to carry them out. In Flann’s case, he wants to see the lands and tribes of Ireland united into a new, greater kingdom. To achieve this, he plots a dangerous alliance with the Vikings, some of whom have settled in England.

Total War: Saga is different than previous games in the franchise due to its unique victory conditions. The newest title focuses on a story-driven experience built around crucial points in history. You as the player will need to navigate a political and military quagmire to achieve your goals. Of course, you can just ruthlessly conquer your enemies in traditional Total War style if that’s more your speed.

There are also some unique events that take place throughout any given playthrough that force the player to make a choice between different faction alliances or military actions. These events vary by faction and have different impacts based on the decisions you choose. This means that each playthrough will have just a little more variance than the last.

Check out the Kingdom of Mide trailer below as well as a Let’s Play style bit of preview gameplay.

“There are multiple routes to a glorious victory in Thrones of Britannia,” says publisher Sega in a statement. “For Flann Sinna, King of the Gaelic Kingdom of Mide (later High King of Ireland), there is one that is truly coveted—uniting the lands into a new, greater kingdom. To realise his ambition Flann plots a dangerous alliance with the nearby Viking factions, a gamble which may not pay off.”
