No Man’s Sky, as a space exploration game, isn’t the kind of thing that jumps to mind when you think of video games that hold Halloween-themed events. But nonetheless, Hello Games is getting in a few good frights with an eerie content update titled “The Abyss”.
In a blog post on the official No Man’s Sky website, Hello Games’ Sean Murray announced The Abyss, which is a new free update for the game that’s seemingly the pet project of a small part of the NMS team. It’s planned that the update will go live across all platforms next week. Although we don’t know exact details about start times for the events though.
This content for this update is “. . .is another small step on a longer journey for us,” so I wouldn’t expect anything earth-shattering in this patch in terms of new content, missions or gameplay mechanics. And in terms of actual gameplay, Murray was pretty vague saying only that, “. . .it focuses on some of the eerier elements of No Man’s Sky, in keeping with the theme of this season.”.
No Man’s Sky is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
