How to destroy walls in Rust

Complete Guide to Modular Vehicles in Rust

Rust is a game all about building things. The push to redesign bases regularly is a pretty huge one. You will need to destroy stuff from time to time to make a new base, or even improve your existing one. To build a vast base, you’re going to need plenty of resources, especially the basic stuff like stone. But before you even get going, you need to know the basics of moving and removing structures. One thing you need to learn is how to destroy walls in Rust. Here’s how to do that.

How to destroy walls in Rust

The default game settings make this kind of hard. You only have a certain amount of time to remove a wall that you have placed. You will have 10 minutes after you place the object to demolish it with a hammer. That means you need to be careful but quick. If you don’t destroy a wall within that 10-minute time limit, you will be out of luck if you’re using the default game.

There are mods that can overcome this limit though, they just need to be installed to the server running the game. If you’re on default server without those mods, you’re kind of stuck with the walls. The mods like Hammer Time will allow you to overcome this. You can also use other tools aside from Hammersm but there’s another problem.

If you’re able to use something like a jackhammer or a pile of C4, you can use those to blow the wall down. That will take a lot of time to do though, as you need to keep plugging away at the wall to bring it down. The C4 method is very resource-intensive as you need to craft each C4 block.

There’s one other way to get through this. You can replace the wall with a new tier. So if you’re moving from a stone wall to a sheet metal one, it will technically replace the older wall. The way to get rid of it is to stop it from repairing. Deprive the wall of sheet metal by removing sheet metal from nearby tool storage. This will block the wall from repairing on its own. Over time, the wall will decay and disappear.

So if you don’t have any of these methods, you’re kind of out of luck. Without tools or other methods to destroy walls in Rust, you will need to be careful. Be sure to properly plan your base and the layout of your structures. You don’t want to have to bring down a ton of walls and lose hours of work because you misplaced that new mine. Although if you’re on a big server, there’s little chance it will matter, as you’re bound to lose that first base.
