How to craft items with more perks in New World

Amazon's New World

The item perks in New World are a very important part of crafting and gathering. And since those systems are core to the PvE and PvP modes, they become vital. New World makes no bones about the need to upgrade and replace gear as you go along. There are a lot of dangerous foes out there, and you need to be ready for them. One of the best ways to ensure you can take on any foe is to help increase the potency of your build with item perks in New World.

Item perks in New World are all about adding inherent bonuses to items. These can only be good things, so you want them all the time. They can offer bonuses to damage types, boosts to certain gathering attempts, and increases to base stats. So how do you get them?

The first thing you need to do before you consider making better gear is increasing your skill levels. If you want to get more perks on the items you craft, such as weapons, tools, and armor, you will need first to level up your skill at making those types of items. So get out there and gather a bunch of stuff. The more complex the recipes you use, the more materials are needed.

Keep churning through those ranks and you will regularly unlock a few things. One thing you will start to notice is that the rarer materials in the game have special effects. The higher-end the item you’re making, the more likely item perks are to roll on it. And even if the crafting process doesn’t get them, you can always use Gemstones to alter the perks on an item.

Sources of Item Perks

There are two special types of resources, and one is Azoth. Perks can be “rolled” by adding Azoth during the crafting process. Adding azoth to a weapon will increase the chances of not only perks appearing but also gem slots and better attributes as well. You can spend up to 75 Azoth per item. You can get up to a 75% chance for an item to roll a perk or Gem Slot in this instance.

Along with using Azoth, players can use Craft Mods to influence the item with certain perks. The chance for the perk is not 100% and selecting a resource will give the item an “Increased” chance to get the perk of the resource chosen. Craft Mods are the uncommon items you can use in the crafting process to add certain modifiers to an item. These are usually farmed from different enemy types. For example, Corrupted enemies drop mods like Vacant Insignias. Boars and Wolves and other beasts can also drop their own craft mods.

You can find the full list of Craft Mods on the New World Wiki.
