How to craft health potions in Horizon Forbidden West
There are three types of healing potions in the game. Each one uses more components, but has a more potent healing effect. The types range from Small to Large, and here’s what you need to make them. Some of these items require much rarer materials.
- Small – Two Medicinal Berries and One Wild Meat
- Medium – Three Medicinal Berries, Three Wild Meat, and One Vigorstem
- Large – Five Medicinal Berries, Five Wild Meat, and One Fiberzest
When you run out of foraged items that let you heal in Horizon Forbidden West, you have one more option. To make them, you need to head back to a safe zone. To make potions, go to any workbench in the game and select Potion Crafting. This brings up the crafting menu. Each potion uses two medicinal berries and one wild meat. That’s why exploration is so important, as you need these ingredients in large quantities. Vendors will also sell them from time to time, so be sure to check out the camps around the game world for their stock. This can save time over gathering and crafting rarer items.
Hold down the X button to craft the selected item. You can scroll through the various crafting options to see what else you need to use for each recipe.
To use potions when you have them on hand, scroll through your gear by pressing left or right on the D-Pad. Then, press down on the D-Pad to use the selected potion.
At the start of the game, you can only have three potions in your possession, but you can get much more. You will also need to upgrade your capacity to carry more than the default three health potions. You will need to gather Metal Shards and Squirrel Hides to make the upgrades.
