Cross-Saves In Cyberpunk 2077 are incredibly important. With the number of SKUs being released, I think 9 in total, there’s a lot of variance between each version. And players want to get the best possible experience, so they may make the decision to swap to another platform. Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the most anticipated video games of the year. And after all of the delays, there will likely be a lot of fans that end up getting the game on more than one place.
If you’re one of the lucky ones to have a PS5 or XSX, you may want to think about getting the game there first. If you’re on a lesser console and plan to upgrade at some point, you will want to move your saves over to not lose progress. CD PROJEKT has made it very easy to get this done. Here’s how you can do that.
How to use Cross-Saves In Cyberpunk 2077
The cross-saves In Cyberpunk 2077 are pretty easy to use, once you know what system you’re moving to. For each system, it’s basically a matter of linking your game accounts together. This only applies to console versions by the way. It’s also important to note that this is a one-way move. There’s no going to PS4 from a PS5 version of the game. Finally, it’s worth remembering that though the games will be playable on the new consoles, there won’t be a more robust and free upgrade that’s targeted to next-gen platforms until later in 2021.
Moving from PS4 to PS5
You have three options for moving game data from PS4 to PS5:
- Connect to your PlayStation Plus account and upload your saves to the new console from the cloud
- Transfer your data via LAN cable or wireless connection (WiFi)
- Use a compatible storage device to move the files from your console over to the PS5.
Moving from Xbox One to Xbox Series X
The Xbox conversion is a bit easier though. As CD PROJEKT says, Smart Delivery “allows you to continue playing the game on Xbox Series X/S from where you’ve left off on the Xbox One.”
Your save data is backed up to the cloud, just like any other Xbox game data. Just connect the same account to your new console and you’re ready to go. Once that’s done select the System Network Transfer option from the console settings and you can download save data.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on December 10, 2020.
