Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong delayed until February 2022

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong

There’s some bad news for those looking to sink their fangs into Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong in February next year, that’s not coming. The franchise seems to be in real trouble. Another Vampire: The Masquerade title has gotten hit with a delay. Publisher Nacon and developer Big Bad Wolf Studio have announced that their upcoming RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will no longer be hitting its February 2022 release date. Instead, the game will arrive on May 19th, 2022.

The announcement came after precious little news has been heard about either of the two games in the works. This latest news hints that things aren’t going great. The announcement Tweet states that the dev team were having trouble keeping a healthy work-life balance.

“This wasn’t a decision we took lightly, but one necessary to ensure the highest possible quality while retaining a healthy work-life balance for our team,” reads the statement. “Granted, the pandemic also threw a couple of wrenches into our planning, but this delay will allow us to apply some additional polish and give us some extra time for QA.”

The other major project in the pipeline for the franchise—Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2—has already been stuck in limbo for months now.

Being an RPG based on the iconic World of Darkness TTRPG, there’s a lot of depth in these games. The original design centers on taking control of characters in the world, and Swansong follows three of them. Each vamp has unique skills and background. You can choose between Galeb, Leysha, and Emem. At least that’s what we still expect this May. It’s unclear if major shifts in game design have happened in the background.

Swansong will be available for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
