The Epic Games Store has made no bones about its overall strategy over the last few years. The storefront has tried to capture users from Steam, Origin and other competitors in one simple way. By offering free PC games to all users, Epic has been putting that Fortnite money to work. Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is the latest game to get this treatment.
In Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, players take on the role of a group of anthropomorphic operatives as they explore a strange and dangerous world on various missions. By blending XCOM-style strategy and a unique setting, the devs aimed for a new type of experience. The juxtaposition of extreme violence and furry animals is a strange one. But really, it kind of works.
Check out the trailer for the game below. If you’re interested in claiming your free copy, log into the EGS launcher with your account and grab it via the heading on the store. You will find it listed under “Free Games” on the main store page.
On the technical side of news, the platform, finally, recently added a shopping cart. Yes, it took this long to just get that basic feature. Despite these issues with ongoing support and user retention, Epic continues to stack on more free game offers in the EGS. The approach has seemingly worked, as literally millions of PC gamers have claimed these offers.
