first-person melee game, Mordhau comes out soon

Mordhau System Requirements and Preview

There’s a new game for fans of Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Mount&Blade, coming at the end of the month from developers Triternion. This new medieval combat game offers quite the twist on the formula of visceral 14th century combat in first-person games. Say hello to Mordhau.

Although similar to titles like the eurojank fest that was Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Mordhau takes medieval combat to a much wider scale and a grander arena. Players will duel with up to 63 opponents in massive festivals of slaughter featuring a multitude of period weaponry across multiple game modes.

Those game modes offer two distinct styles of play, each with their own chaos and fun. There’s battle royale, which as the name implies, offer an orgy of violence for the full stable of 64 combatants. Players can make use of both melee and ranged weapons in a battle for survival across a sprawling open map with different set pieces and topography, each offering a different style of fighting. If you want to brawl on the battlements of a castle, the option will be there. If you want to rain fire onto an opposing force using siege equipment in an open pitched battle, that’s there too.

The other major mode is Frontline, which offers a more structured team-based affair, still filled with plenty of bloodshed. Players will battle it out over fixed positions in more condensed battles, with dozens of players taking on different roles. If you want to lead a cavalry charge or rain down arrows, you have the choice.

The game even includes a horde mode where teams can take on endless waves of AI enemies. Players can also hone their skills offline too.

But not content with just teasing some features, the developers have also released a gameplay trailer that shows some of this melee action in deep and gory detail. But that’s not all, the team also dropped the system requirements for the game on PC. Check both of those out down below. The full game will release on April 29th for PC.
