Idea Factory was thrilled to announce that Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force will arrive on the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop on January 17, 2019. This release will include all 25 pieces of downloadable content that the original PlayStation 4 release received. In addition, the European version will be released by Ghostlight.
Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force will have a price tag of $39.99, but those who pick up the game within the first two weeks of release will be able to enjoy a 20% discount.
For those who are not sure how the battle system in the game works, it’s rather simple. You have several actions to make during battle, including Attack, Wait, and Command. Your decisions affect the turn order, which is shown on the Action Window.
As you choose Command, you have five more options, which we will cover in detail.
The first option is to use Skills or Magic. These range from special attacks to abilities that restore HP, to casting buffs that will assist Fang and his friends make it through the tougher battles. Many of these simply take SP, but some will require HP to utilize.
The second option is to utilize different items to heal, remove status effects, and revive fallen party members.
Next up is “Special”. This works as each character you can utilize possesses their own Special command. Two examples are Fang’s Special, “Fang’s Serious Face,” which boosts his attacking strength by 1.5x. Pippin’s Special, “Pippin’s Persuade,” on the other hand, makes Pippin attempt to “negotiate” with the enemy and drive them away.
You can also utilize Switch to swap in reserve party members. This can be useful as you are allowed to bring up to six party members into the field.
Finally, once your Tension Gauge has reached a certain level, you can utilize the final action, Fairize. This ability transforms your characters into powerful beings, greatly boosting both their attack and defense. This state will end once your Tension Gauge drops to a certain point again, so you will want to use it wisely; Getting knocked out of Fairize while too close to a strong monster may result in your character’s death, after all.
We’ve included the Switch trailer for the game down below, so check that out if you want to see it. Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force arrives on Switch on January 17.
