Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is coming to Nintendo Switch

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen heading to Switch

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is a strange game, and one most people wouldn’t expect to hear much about these days. But it turns out that Nintendo and Capcom have decided to port the adventure title to the Switch console, coming this April.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen takes place in the mysterious land of Gransys, and has players taking on increasingly tough monsters with a huge array of skills and gameplay mechanics. Dark Arisen is the expansion to the original game, that original version came out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. The most recent release before this Switch announcement was a 2017 version that bundled the expansion with all the rest of the content for the game, and that came around for the Xbox One and PS4. It’s this later version that will serve as the base for the Switch port, in case you were wondering.

This new version will feature a reworked UI and control systems that will work well with the new platform. This way players won’t struggle controlling the games many systems. Those systems are actually surprisingly complex, as there’s multiple vocations that serve as classes. The other major aspect is the AI-controlled Pawns that serve as essentially mercenaries for the player. The deep character customization is one of major appeals of the Dragon’s Dogma series, so it will be interesting to see how the Switch handles that.

Check out the trailer for the Switch port of the game down below. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is due out for Switch on April 23.
