Everspace 2 is still chugging along, and with the success of the recently launch KickStarter, there’s plenty to like so far, as seen with the various pre-alpha versions floating around online. Popular streamer and online personality CohhCarnage got his hands on the demo, getting some pretty substantial stick time with the far-future adventure game. The full 2 hour stream showcases a fair bit of meat on the bones of this sci-fi epic. Rockfish has been slowly pushing out more and more news about their latest title, teasing new features aplenty as well as a surprisingly polished video game.
In terms of what the demo shows, there’s actually quite a bit involved. Everspace 2 plans to expand on the formula of the original, while also offering extended storytelling options by including new characters, factions and other elements in the sci-fi setting. The game will also feature expanded perks and a brand new class-based player ship system with dozens of models. Not only that, but players can also fully customize their ships with all manner of weapons, armor upgrades, new drive systems and a bunch of other goodies. These tweaks will allow players to adventure into deeper regions of space and take on tougher foes, all while reaping better rewards. The gameplay innovations don’t stop there though, as the skill systems is being overhauled in such a way to bring it more in line with RPG systems from other genres. These changes are looking pretty good so far, and the game is only going to get better from here.
And considering that Everspace 2 is still only in a pre-alpha state, the amount of depth the game has so far looks really promising. I cannot wait to see what Rockfish has in store for us in the future.
