Bandai Namco Entertainment has just released a new cinematic video to celebrate the Japanese release of the action-RPG God Eater 3.
The trailer shows many cutscenes from the game and explains humanity’s struggle against the Aragami, and the Ash Storms, which is a new threat to the franchise added for this iteration. The game features some spectacular animation and graphical work, due in part to Studio Ufotable, famous for its Tales of and Type-Moon anime adaptations.
The trailer also shows off a handful of other characters, like Phym, the mysterious horned little girl who uses powers seemingly born of the Aragami. It turns out that this character is the result of some twisted genetic experimentation. Umbralla ain’t got nothing on this particular evil syndicate. Phym is a vital part of the God Eater 3 story and their encounter with her will change both their lives forever.
There’s not much gameplay to be had from this trailer, but we do know more about how the game will work. There’s a new Burst Arts system which allows players to apply different effects to their attacks, and the effects are also plastic to player action, so when entering Burst Mode while running, you’ll get a different effect than if you were jumping.
God Eater 3 also features a deep character customization system built around the players hub, a massive airship. Players will also be able to customize their characters and what Burst Arts Effects they apply for each move, providing a vast number of different combinations.
God Eater 3 launches this week in Japan, on December 13, for PC and PS4. Check out the newest trailer for the game down below, we’ve included both the Japanese and English versions.
