Build Endless Bases With This Fallout 4 Settlement Size Glitch

Fallout 4

Want to make a massive factory? Want to build all the insane contraptions and factory conveyor builts to produce tons of ammo? You can’t really do that in the default version of Fallout 4. But, you can get it done with this Fallout 4 settlement size glitch. Normally, there’s a relatively sane limit on how many items you can build in your Fallout 4 settlements—allowing for some small factories and other builds, but you can certainly use this exploit to abuse that.

You can do this exploit on both console and PC, but a word of warning. Since this is clearly not the intended way to use the Fallout 4 settlements, bugs will happen. You will also run into problems on consoles when trying this bug too many times, It may be easy to do, but it’s also a quick way to wreck a save by spawning too much stuff.

Now, here’s how to use the Fallout 4 settlement size glitch.

How to perform the Fallout 4 Settlement Size Glitch

There are a few things you need to do before you can do this exploit. It’s going to take some time to do it as well. The core idea is to wait until the game has hit the normal limit for place items, noted by the red settlement size meter. You then use this exploit to bypass that meter by artificially lowering it.

You will need a lot of guns, like as many as you can carry. Once you have a ton of junk firearms, you’re able to do the glitch. Here are the steps you need to do:

  • Put all the guns you can carry into your character inventory
  • Take the collection of weapons to the settlement with the nearly maxed out size meter.
  • Now, simply drop the guns all inside the settlement. Just drop them all.
  • Enter the Workshop mode and use Store on each of the guns in the pile. This will cause the settlement size to overload, causing the bug to trigger.
  • As you store guns, the meter will empty, turning from red to green.
  • You can now place more items. Be sure to collect all the guns before you repeat this exploit, or it may bug out and freeze the game.

Whether you just need to place a few more theming items down, or need a huge factory, you can use this glitch as much as you want. You can also repeat the exploit by simply filing up your desired settlement with items, and then repeating the above glitch. You can do this as many times as you like to bypass the default build limit by quite a bit. The one limiting factor is performance, as your system might not be able to handle more complex factories if they’re 10 times the normal limit.

Also, there’s one more thing to mention. Trying to import an oversized glitched settlement into another save will likely cause a crash, so be aware of that.
