Assassin’s Creed Valhalla new trailer shows off mythical beasts

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mythical Beasts Trailer

During Gamescom 2020, Ubisoft had something new to show off for fans eager to see more of the game. With the new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mythical Beasts trailer, Ubisoft has delved into the historical influences and fantasy driving the new title, showing off some very interesting elements.

The Black Shuck, which was available to fight in the early previews of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, bringing a new and dangerous foe to battle. The developers built this beast, along with many others, influenced by historical elements. The story of each beast and foe in the game is shaped by historical elements and some amount of fantasy nonsense. The franchise has long done this, and it’s nice to see it continue into 2020 and beyond.

Check out the new trailer below. launches on November 17, 2020 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC. Some form of DLC is planned as well, likely adding more side content to explore that compliments the elements shown in the new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mythical Beasts trailer.

The team is also introducing some new in-game factions and their backstories. The Daughters of Lerion are one such element, brought into the game as a beastly combination of quasi-historical enemies that are “homage to Shakespeare,” and represent some very interesting twists and turns. The developers have built an entire storyline around this story of betrayal and players have a chance to uncover more details.

Another in-game faction with its own story are the lost Drengr of Ragnar Lothbrok. “You’ll find these Drengr scattered throughout England and Norway and they each have a story to tell,” McDevitt explains. “Each of them wants to die in a glorious battle so that they can be with their beloved Ragnar in Valhalla. Eivor will have an opportunity to meet with them, get their side of the story, and then send them to their ultimate reward.”

And yes, this is just the tip of the iceberg. “You’ll find them just by exploring the world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” McDevitt added. “We put a lot of care and effort into rewarding people who just want to get off the beaten path.” Being that it’s all side content, fans can expect a lot more beyond the main story. And if the new trailer is any indication, it’s bound to be dangerously fun.
