The key item hunt is one of the more laborious parts of these games, and it’s probably the one that most confuses new players. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl continue this trend with various items you need to find to get hidden items. in some cases, you trade these items for TMs or strong Pokémon, other times you need to them to get past some block.

As you progress through the game, there’s a lot of hidden things to find. As you finish up the Dex, you have another goal in mind. You’re now going to be hunting for hidden items and trying to get the most powerful team. Getting the most powerful moves is using focused held items to powerup certain moves. Fair warning, you need to get your hands on the following moves to actually reach the Plate: Strength, Rock Smash, and Surf. You will need all of these moves to get past various obstacles. And since you need to be able to use those moves outside of battles, you need to beat the Oreburgh City, Pastoria City, and Canalave City Gyms first. Do that, then get your team together with those moves.

Once you’re ready, head to Oreburgh Gate and take the north path. you will find a path down into the room below. Keep going south and you will encounter a body of water you must Surf across. Head east across the water and you will see a Trainer standing in front of a staircase. Beat the Trainer, then head down the stairs. There will be rocks you have to smash to get the Earth Plate from the southern side of this lower area.
