What is a Soul Pyre in Bless Unleashed?

There are a lot of things in Bless Unleashed that might confuse new players. The explosive success of Bless Unleashed, the new MMORPG from Bandai Namco, has a lot of people wondering what’s going on in this game. Being that it’s basically a re-release of an old game, there’s a lot of conflicting info out there. The game operates like any other MMO, but with some little sprinkles of new mechanics here and there. As a result, players coming into the game have a lot to learn.

What is a Soul Pyre?

The Soul Pyre is a bonfire that can be used for cooking, congregation and a few other things. You can press (A) to “Use Soul Pyre” to activate various effects. Clearly borrowing from Dark Souls a bit, Bandai Namco has decided to make this form of bonfire integral to the gameplay.

The bonfire is a nexus of social and combat downtime, as you gain various effects when interacting with it. You can interact with various gameplay systems through the pyre, here’s what you can do.

What does a Soul Pyre do?

Food and fun

A Soul Pyre has a passive effect that can regenerate any HP lost by players standing within its zone. No need to do anything special or consume an item, you just get HP back by standing around. You may also sit near the fire to increase HP recovery speed by 40%. But that’s not all, you can also use the fire to network with other players.

If you and another player are sitting by the same fire, you can share food with each other.  Four food items can be shared at each sitting, and any players taking part share in the buffs offered by each food item. And yes, you can cook as well. When interacting with the fire, choose the option to Craft and it will open the available recipes list of what items you can cook.

What else?

Beyond that crafting there are a few other things you can do. You may salvage any unneeded equipment that can be broken down near a fire as well. You can dismantle the equipment you don’t need to get components and basic resources that you will need for making better gear.

Finally, you can also escape a near-death experience by choosing to resurrect at a bonfire. When you enter a near-death state, you will be given the option to res at the nearest active Soul Pyre, However, using this option gives you Resurrection Sickness which lowers your Max HP, Attack Power, and Defense by 30%.
