Digital Extremes has just launched the latest bit of expansion content into their epic shooter, Warframe. The sci-fi loot shooter is going to Saturn, in a manner of speaking. The newest update to the game is out now on all platforms, from PC to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and even the Nintendo Switch.
The Nightwave: Series 1 — The Wolf of Saturn Six update aims primarily at updating older mechanics in the game, one of those older systems which players have been waiting to see updated is the Alerts system. The Alerts in Warframe were a mechanism for delivering temporary missions, usually only spawning for 30 minutes to 1 hour, in a place on a map which a player has previously unlocked. Once the timer ran out, these Alerts would then disappear and spawn in a new location. Spawning and tracking these missions became a pretty big element in the meta-game for Warframe, players even took to automating the process. These missions offered different rewards like bonus Credits. They also sometimes award special Blueprints and Auras that players cannot obtain anywhere else.
Players who partake in the new content can gain access to Resources, Cosmetic items, Mods, and more. One of the new reward additions is Wolf Cred. This tradable resource can be used in a few different ways. You can also get former Alert System Rewards, including Nitain Extract, Weapon and Helmet Blueprints, Catalysts, Reactors and rare Aura Mods, by visiting the Nightwave Cred Offerrings and spending Wolf Cred. You need to use these Creds soon though, as they expire after the Nightwave main series ends. The series will last around 10 weeks, with new content released periodically.
The Nightwave series also includes new Acts that grant Standing points in the new series.
The number of simultaneously available ones consists of 2 daily rotating, 7 weekly rotating and 3 elite weekly rotating possible challenges, chosen from the following list:
