Streets of Rage 4 confirmed for all platforms

Streets of Rage 4 Announced

Dotemu and Lizardcube have announced some new details about their upcoming reboot Streets of Rage 4. We get to see both a new playable character, as well as some confirmation about the platforms the brawler will premier on. The game is due to launch for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Said new playable character Cherry Hunter is actually the daughter of the original Streets of Rage’s Adam Hunter and the niece of Streets of Rage 2’s Skate. That thread of connective tissue shows off some of her martial arts skills, which are apparently genetic now, because she’s a total badass. Check out the new character in action in the trailer down below.

Streets of Rage 4 will feature a full rebirth of the original street fighting franchise, featuring all of the cheesy nonsense you remember from the older games. Part of that comes through with Cherry, who is using her love of rock and metal music as a combat tactic. It’s basically a Patton Oswalt bit about rock music and sandwiches, yes that’s a thing, and it’s hilarious. Anyway, On the PlayStation Blog, Dotemu communications manager Jessica Richard explained a bit more about this new character and her abilities.

The game itself will also bring back Axel and Blaze in a entirely new setting, with new enemies, levels and movesets. The entirely new story will feature hand-drawn visuals as well. Other new additions include a new soundtrack with contributions from the original composers. If you want to see the game in action, check out some more gameplay footage showing some generic action.
