Sony has announced an expanded range of colors for their branded line of console skins. The colored console covers are live now for sale, and cover a range of colors. If you’re a fan of customizing your hardware, there’s never been a better time to get a new look for that expensive new console. There are two colors already on the market, with three more due next month. There are three new colored covers available to be released on June 17th, 2022: Galactic Purple, Starlight Blue, and Nova Pink
This new push for expanded colors is added to the two previously available colors. Two covers were available previously, which are Midnight Black and Cosmic Red. There are now five total color choices, and sure are likely to follow. Each one retails for $54.99 USD and can be pre-ordered via the PlayStation Direct Store.
Keep in mind that there are variants of the console skin for both digital and physical disc variants of the PS5. You need to get the right one for your console, so pay attention to which one you’re buying. And they will probably sell out pretty quick, so grab them while you can.
If you want a complementary controller look, you can get the correct color and also purchase a matching DualSense Controller.
The skin kits were an inevitable pivot for Sony—after they forcible shut down sales of Dbrand faceplates, which was done a while ago. It will be interesting to see what Sony does next with this idea. Customizing console looks has been a thing for years, and more console makers are pushing into the market to make more revenue.
