The newest trailer for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is out, and it’s all about tearing things to pieces and blasting apart the landscape. If you’ve ever wanted to pilot a mech that’s multiple stories tall while you rip through buildings and tear apart everything natural in your path, this is the game for you.
The new trailer released today by developer Paranha Games, which you can see below, is all about hoppng into the cockpit and leaving a trail of destruction in your wake. From jumping onto enemy tanks to blasting helicopters out of the sky and sending them careening into nearby structures, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries has a bit of everything.
It’s not clearly shown in the trailer, but there’s more to the game than just smashing stuff and making things go boom. The weapons that you and your and your enemies use have entirely expected consequences too. If your mech starts taking multiple plasma shots the face, expect it’s armor to boil off the superstructure. Taking too many cannon rounds to a weapon mount can make that entire system fly off your mech in a fiery ball of slag. The developers are working hard to create a realistic and predictable damage model to the game that will enhance the strategy at play in a given engagement. Let’s just hope it all pays off on release.
There are other trailers about MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries as well. There’s one about the unique biomes systems in the game for example. And you’ll just have to be content with these little teasers as the game is still several months away from it’s full release.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is going to release in December exclusive to PC, sixteen years after the launch of its predecessor MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries.
