How to get the Flare Gun in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3

The Flare Gun in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 is a new weapon added in Week 3 along with patch 13.20. The changes to the map in Fortnite continue to inform the way Epic has designed vehicles, weapons and more. The flooded areas of the map got multiple themed changes to their layouts, as well as some new weapons that could be argued to share the core theme. The Flare Gun is one of those weapons.

You can get the flare gun from loot chests, llamas, supply drops, or it can just spawn randomly on the ground. So it’s just like any other weapon in the game in that regard. There’s something special about the item though, and that’s what it does when fired. It fires a flare that does 60 damage on impact with an enemy or structure. The weapon will disappear from your inventory when spent, so you only have six shots with it, make them count.

The slow projectile is pretty easy to dodge, but it does have one helpful effect. On impact, it exposes and deals damage in a wide area. There’s no fire-starting potential like with Firefly Jars, but it’s still nice to have a nice way to strip away some health. There isn’t much hope of using this weapon as a structure destroyer though, without the burn effect.

Instead, this could be used to score some quick BM kills for many players. Being able to mock your opponent to demoralize a squad can be helpful. And getting taken out by a single-shot weapon like this is pretty rough. This is mostly because it’s a weapon that’s not meant to one-shot a player. You would have to be pretty low on health to get taken down by this.
