How to catch a Killifish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How to get and craft the wave breaker in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

With all of the new fish in June 2020 there’s tons of stuff to catch and make Bells with. The newly brought in Killifish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one such fish that adds a good source of Bells and collectible stuff on your island. You can sell the Killifish for 300 Bells, or give it to Blathers for his museum. Giving it to Blathers will get you the following dialogue:

“Ah, the magnificent killifish! Did you know there are over 1,000 different species? My own favorite killifish species are the mangrove, which can live on land for weeks, breathing air! And the mummichog, the first fish ever brought to space. I wonder if the killifish you’ve brought me is related to either those intrepid explorers?”

And just like all of the many other fish and bugs in the game, you need to be looking during the right time, and at the right places. To get the Killifish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons you need to be looking for smaller shadows. The fish will spawn in any of the smaller ponds on your island.

The key to getting the Killifish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Fish Bait.

The Fish Bait is the biggest key to catching any fish, including the Killifish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there’s a bit of work to do. The Fish Bait will need to go farming through some stuff. Fish Bait in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is going to be necessary for many

To get Fish Bait, you will first need to find a Manila Clam. When out fishing or otherwise on the beach of your island, be on the lookout for a small shadow in the sand. When you see one, run over and dig it with the Shovel, this will yield the Manila Clam.

Once you have the bait, choose “Scatter Food” from the interactable menu when standing near a stream or the sea, and the bait will be cast. You can then fish with a higher chance of a good catch.
