Ditto is one of the more bizarre Generation I Pokémon. it’s also one of the more prized, outside of the iconic Legendary types. There’s one big reason for this. Pokémon breeding relies heavily on Ditto to work. There’s no quick way to get two Pokémon with high IVs for competitive breeding, so Dittos are a wonderful tool. Players who like to hunt Shiny variants love Ditto. The reason for this is the Masuda method, which Ditto is also useful for. Since Generation 2, players have stuck Ditto in the Daycare to get shiny eggs, or at least try to. And that’s what many plan to do in BDSP as well. Here’s the best ways to get Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
How to get Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
You need to have beaten the game for this to work. There are two ways to find a Ditto, though both of them require you to have at least defeated the Elite Four and entered your Trainer into the Hall of Fame first. When that’s done, you need to grab the Poké Radar. When you get the first 150 Sinnoh-native Pokémon, Professor Rowan will pay you a visit. You need to get the Radar from them.
Ditto can be found on Route 218, located between Jubilife City and Canalave City. However, it’s only catchable when using the Poké Radar. You need to get the radar from Rowan and come back here. Head into the tall grass and see what you can find. The grassy areas are the more reliable method here, but there’s one more place to check.
The odds of finding Ditto on Route 218 are reportedly as high as 20%, making that the better method. The other method can be gotten to sooner, but has much lower odds of spawning the right Pokémon.
Earlier in the game, you can visit the Stargleam Cavern and Dazzling Cave biomes in the Grand Underground. You need to go to Eterna City and get the Explorer’s Kit first. Once you have that, you’re good to go looking for more Ditto and other Pokes. The problem with this method is that it’s much harder to find Ditto in the Underground.
