Final Fantasy VIII Remastered gets a release date

Final Fantasy 8 Remastered Officially Confirmed

Since the raucous announcement of Final Fantasy VIII Remastered this past E3, fans of the adventures of Squall have been trying hard to contain their excitement and speculation. Since that time, there’s been plenty of speculation about what’s going to change with the new PS4 version. So here’s what we can expect so far.

The visual style has been bumped up a fair bit, but the overall experience will be mostly what fans remember. The big differences come with the gameplay though. Much like the earlier HD re-releases of Final Fantasy XII and other games, there will be a few gameplay improvements such as the battle assist, 3x Speed Boost and the option to completely disable encounters.  These new additions will reduce the overall length of the JRPG grind, but the gameplay won’t be seriously compromised.

But if you’re looking to compromise the hell out of the game, there’s a new cheat system too. This will include features like turning off random encounters. Other options include having infinite HP, as well as a max level character from the beginning of the game. There’s even an option for both English and Japanese voiceovers for those who desire that sort of thing.

Check out the trailer that Sony released to hype up the release of the JRPG on the PS4. Check that out below. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is coming out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on September 3rd.
