Focus Home Interactive and Open World Interactive have released another free update for Insurgency: Sandstorm, bringing new content to the shooter. Players can expect plenty more free updates on the way as well, because the developer is committed to continually updating their game with new content on a regular basis. This latest patch, version 1.3, follows another major update last month that featured a new map, customization options, a new hardcore cooperative game mode and more.
Insurgency: Sandstorm is getting a new map, some new weapons, and a new game mode too.
The new map, called Ministry, is an indoor map with lots of tight quarters and plenty of explosive action.
The new Frenzy mode takes a more necrotic approach to shooter action, offer a zombie style game mode for players too enjoy. Frenzy checkpoint mode pairs players against AI-controlled enemies that only use melee attacks. The enemy ranks are augmented by special enemy types which are much more dangerous, so be careful.
The two new weapons, one each for each side, offer a pair of new approaches to tactical gun play. QBZ-03 Chinese assault rifle and TAR-21 MARS-style red dot optic for Insurgents offers some decent medium range potential. While the VHS-2 Croatian assault rifle and MRO “Micro Red Dot” optic for Security players offers a similar playstyle. Of course there are plenty of other armaments to choose from, so pick what works best for you.
The game is out now on PC. And if you want to try it for free, wait until this weekend when Insurgency: Sandstorm will be entirely free on Steam. The free play weekend begins June 20th and runs until the 24th.
