Destiny 2 The Messenger God Roll Guide

Destiny 2 The Messenger God Roll Guide

The Messenger is another adept weapon, although it’s not always available. When it is, it’s a great choice. from the recent Trials rework in Destiny 2. The Messenger is this week’s flawless reward, which means you need to be victorious in 7 matches in a row. Then, stop over at the lighthouse to grab a copy of this great Pulse Rifle.

How to get The Messenger

As a Trials of Osiris weapon, this one is only available to those players that fight their way through that chaotic battlefield. You will have to put in some work to get it done, but it’s well worth the wait. This guide will walk you through some of the best rolls for The Messenger, and why you should use them. Play through the game mode and redeem Engrams with Saint-14 to test your luck.

The Messenger god roll PvP

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Richochet Rounds
  • Perk 1: Outlaw or Rapid Hit
  • Perk 2: Desperado
  • Masterwork: Range or Stability
  • Mod: Counterbalance Stock

The Messenger is an extremely potent pulse rifle, but you need every boost you can get in PvP. The bursts of fire need to be capable of taking out your foes. Hammer-Forged Rifling will give you that range buff that is desperately needed. You then want to aim for Ricochet Rounds to keep applying DPS to enemy teams. Having to focus less on damaging nearby players can be a huge help in chaotic fights. Outlaw or Rapid Hit is the real star here. You need to be able to get those Rapid Hit stacks ASAP. Being able to keep shots on target is key though, if you’re not good with keeping your aim true, go for Outlaw.

Desperado allows The Messenger to increase its rate of fire, and that’s where this combo really shines. If you can get rounds on your target before they hit you, you’re in great shape. Having boosts to range and accuracy fill the rest of our slots with The Messenger god roll in PvP.

The Messenger god roll PvE

  • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Appended Magazine
  • Perk 1: Rapid Hit or Outlaw
  • Perk 2: Desperado
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed
  • Mod: Adept Counterbalance Stock

One of the defining elements of the Messenger PvE god roll is Corkscrew Rifling which gives a nice mix of range, handling, and stability.  Appended Mag for extra rounds not only gives us more shots, but does so at no cost to reload speed. When masterwork is applied, you will want to augment that speed even more to give it tons of benefit.

As for alternate possibilities, here’s a couple. One for All is a great way to boost DPS, although it’s not as potent as Rapid Hit. Another option is to replace Desperado with One For all. This will be a solid addition for some burst damage sustainability.

The core mechanic is the same of the PvP god roll, as the mix of Rapid Hit stacks helps keep your uptime on Desperado. You will need to be constantly taking out foes to keep these buffs up. That combo is what makes the whole Messenger setup such a beast.
