It’s been a helluva month for the Warhammer franchise and Games Workshop. Some great games have been released, but there is always room for more chaos spawn from this legendary material. With the release of Warhammer: Chaosbane, strategy gamers are waiting eagerly for their own Warhammer news. And now, we’ve got that news.
Now Focus Home Interactive and Tindalos Interactive have revealed a huge new expansion to Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2. The expansion adds one more Grand Campaign to the game. which brings the total number to four. All 12 main factions of the Warhammer 40K lore are in the game, but only the Tyranid, Necron and Imperium factions have Grand Campaigns in the base game.
The Chaos campaign in Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 will let players act as a scourge on the galaxy, burning the enemies of the Dark Gods from the stars in a massive quest for blood and vengeance.
And alongside the full paid expansion, Tindalos is introducing a free patch to Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 that adds in new features and changes some existing ones. Said free patch is actually pretty huge due to the ways it alters base gameplay elements. With this free update, all maps are getting new sets of secondary objectives which will change the tactical game, and that’s just the start.
The campaign also completely reworks all of the other Grand Campaigns, allowing the player to manipulate every single aspect of a game. Economic modeling, battle difficulty, fleet sizes and more can all be tweaked. These new difficulty options can offer a ton of replayability and will let newer players get used to the complex strategy title at their own pace.
There’s apparently much more buried in the update, but Focus Home Interactive and Tindalos Interactive are just teasing, saying that full details of the free update and expansion will be made available on launch day.
Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 is out now for PC. The new Chaos expansion, as well as the free update, drops on June 24th.
