Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 finally has some more thorough gameplay courtesy of Paradox from E3 2019 and the PC gaming show at the event. The trailer itself builds on the hype generated by the clan reveal videos we’ve seen previously.
There’s the enigmatic and powerful businessfolk of the Venture. Then there’s the deceptively weak, but notoriously tricky Thinbloods. The Brujah are a rough bunch of berserkers. While the Toreador are very much the common artist of the bunch, very creative, and very dangerous. Then there’s the Tremere, who are seduction incarnate. The final Malkavian reveal was the last we saw of these bloodsucking fiends until this latest trailer.
The story of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is very convoluted, and remains pretty mysterious, but as part of this release we have some new details about the chaotic state of the world of vampires at this point in the lore. It looks like things aren’t so jolly for many newly-minted vamps in this game. The player takes on the role of a new vampire, one who is lucky enough to be formally inducted into the ranks of The Masquerade. Hints dropped so far seem to suggest some kind of mass creation of new vampires took place shortly before the story began, although details remain murky. So it’s unknown if this massive progeny of new vamps is intentional or some kind of destructive mistake.
“When you were made as a very young vampire, a lot of other vampires were made at the same time,” said senior writer Cara Ellison. “They’re having a less lucky time in the world […] going through vampire puberty on their own. They might have a family and a wife and children, who morally object to drinking blood. And you can find them throughout the world.”
