The Original Punch-Out!! Gets a Switch Port
Japanese publisher Hamster has finally announced that the original Arcade version of Punch-Out!! with full 3D graphics is coming to the Nintendo Switch. The 1983 Arcade title will release in Japan on March 30. There’s no confirmed Western release at this time, but it’s likely that North American gamers will see Punch-Out!! Switch soon.
The Switch version of the game will let players display the two screens horizontally or in its traditional vertical mode, a design mechanic stemming from Nintendo’s overstock of monitors back in the 1980’s. If you display the game in tate/vertical mode, the top will display the stats of the match and the bottom will show off the match itself.
In a September 2017 Nintendo Direct video, Nintendo announced the following games:
- Mario Bros.
- VS. Super Mario Bros.
- VS. Balloon Fight
- VS. Ice Climber
- VS. Pinball
- VS. Clu Clu Land
These other games are already available on Switch for the most part.
