Slime Rancher 2 showcases locations and teases new ecosystem

Slime Rancher 2 New Zones

Slime Rancher has wiggled its way into the hearts of many casual and hardcore gamers alike over the years. Developer Monomi Park has been very consistent about updating and porting the game, supporting it as a labor of love. And now, things are evolving in a stellar way. The recent reveal of a sequel last year had tons of people looking eagerly to the future. The new game finally has more detail this week, with the reveal of zones being developed for the sequel.

And with the new screenshots we’ve just seen of Slime Rancher 2, there’s a lot to look forward to. Slime Rancher 2 was first revealed during last year’s E3. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but fans are very excited. So let’s dive in and see what folks are looking forward to.

The art style looks very much the same, but with some new flair added to help improve the quality. There’s some spiffy new lighting and water effects seen in the shots, as well as a rather interesting increase in the variety of biomes. Slime Rancher 2 will be much more focused on exploration it looks like, thanks to the wide array of zones we’ll have to trudge through in that never-ending quest for Plorts.

Even the slimes themselves get a bit of revamping in the new game. Angler Slimes are in this time, looking like a much cuter rendition of the terrifying angler fish. There are plenty of other slime and plort variants to be found in Slime Rancher 2. We’ll just have to wait for release to figure it all out. The game is expected to arrive later this year on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

We could even see more this Summer, especially during that planned Xbox showcase in June. Check back with ISKMogul for more on that later. Anyway, back to the point, slimes!

Along with those new slime variants, comes a ton of new locales. The original game was filled with hidden secrets and micro-areas, packed with slimes. One new area, Starlight Strand is a quite whimsical place, “mysteriously divided between dazzling palettes of dusk and dawn. This fragrant, floral fantasia is home to nectar-loving honey and flutter slimes,” says the Twitter account for the game. Ember Valley is another special zone being added in the sequel that sees new slime varieties and a distinct visual style.
