It has been twenty-four years since the release of PlayStation title Monster Rancher, known in Japan as Monster Farm. The first game spawned numerous other games, as well as an anime series. Koei Tecmo has given players the chance to relive those days with Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX, a bundle containing remasters of the first two titles. They’re actually the mobile ports but 2019, but they’re not too bad.
So how do you get more monsters? Other than the Market, head to the Shrine. Koei Tecmo has put in a searchable database and randomization function. You must search for an artist and then album name. The game has a very limited selection. Also, you have to progress in the game to unlock higher-grade monsters. Some of the best monsters in the game are found in the higher ranks. Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX includes the likes of Worm, Henger, Gali, And Mew, but you need to unlock them.
How to use the CD Library
Head over to the Shrine and you’ll be asked to generate a monster from a CD. Choose the option for Disc Stone when you want to create a monster. You will then get a search screen to use. Each monster is assocated with an entry in this list. Search the artist, then choose an album to see what you get. There is also a random function if you don’t want to search manually.
Each monster has a base stat score, ranking from E to S. E-rank monsters might seem like the worst, but they can often compete pretty well with other powerful monsters. But if you want to get your hands on the highest-ranked trophies, you need to use more powerful monsters. Most A-Rank and S-Rank monsters can be found via the CD library. Once you can get access to B-rank monsters and above from the digital library, there’s a lot of variety to be had.
All High-Rank Monster Albums
Here are each of the known albums you can search for via the Shrine to yield B to S-rank monsters. These must first be unlocked by completing the tournaments for each rank in the IMa-FIMBA Meet. So to get the A-rank spawns from discs, you need to raise an A-rank monster.
