Xbox Series X/S launch titles confirmed, here’s the list

Xbox Series S might be worse than Xbox One X

The Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X launch on November 10 and bring with them a full slate of 30 launch titles for the platform. The full list of Xbox Series X/S launch titles has been revealed, and it’s pretty impressive. The mix of genres is pretty good, and there’s a decent amount of both AAA and indie gaming going on here.

It remains to be seen how Microsoft will compete with the PS5 and Switch, as both consoles have much more compelling exclusives planned. It’s worth noting that many of the Xbox Series X/S launch titles will be ports of existing current-gen games. The advantage is that many of these titles will be optimized for better load times, 60 FPS gaming, and full 4K resolution. And in some cases, the swap to the new version is a free update. It’s hard to say how gamers will react to this planned launch lineup.

In addition, the Xbox Wire announcement also revealed several other titles getting next-gen Xbox versions in 2020. These include Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on November 13, Destiny 2: Beyond Light on December 8, and many more.

There is some additional ground that Microsoft could gain with backward compatibility. The company has tested thousands of titles and confirmed a huge number of games have been tested. Jason Ronald, Director of Program Management for Xbox Series X said the team has tested games to ”empower gamers to play the best versions of games from across four generations of Xbox at the launch of Xbox Series X.”  Xbox is promising that ‘thousands of games’ are already playable on Xbox Series X when the console launches on November 10.
