During the opening day of Persona Super Live 2019, Atlus had some new information to tease fans with about the upcoming expanded version of Persona 5. The delightfully weird and unpredictable JRPG is getting a new version, complete with what is basically a new game worth of content, so that’s pretty cool. And Atlus wanted to show off some of this new stuff so they revealed a new gameplay trailer.
That new trailer shows off pretty much every major aspect of the game, and just teases what could have changed with this new version. The story has been expanded from the original game to introduce a troop of new characters for one thing, and we get to see a few of these new faces in action. These new additions to the roster also have some new social elements tied in as well, allowing the player to build relationships with them. There’s also some new mini-games like billards and darts to play with these newly gained friends.
Persona 5: The Royal is essentially the best version of this entry in the mainline franchise, including a nearly limitless amount of new and reworked content for fans to adore. The combat has been massively retooled with new animations, attacks and mechanics to make it much more challenging and engaging. And as is Persona style at this point, all of the characters will have their own quirks and attacks to make use of during combat, adding more tactical decision-making to combat encounters.
The new version will also be able to take advantage of PS4 Pro technology upgrades to offer more impressive visuals too. So if you’re looking for the most in-depth, expansive and visually striking Persona experience, this could be it.
Persona 5: The Royal is due out for PS4 in Japan on October 31, 2019 and worldwide sometime in 2020. You can take a closer look at all of the new elements in the trailer down below.
